Ingredients:
1 (3- to 3 1/2-pound) broiler-fryer, cut up |
2 tablespoons shortening |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1 tablespoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon red pepper |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1/2 cup chopped celery |
1 cup water |
1 cup catsup |
1/4 cup lemon juice |
3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce |
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard |
Directions:
1. Brown chicken in shortening in an ovenproof Dutch oven over medium heat. Combine next 10 ingredients, mixing well; pour sauce over chicken. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Uncover; transfer to oven, and bake at 350° for 35 minutes. |
