This bread is the best bread I've ever eaten, hands down! I have a neighbor who always tells me when he does me a favor that this is what he wants as payment ! Really good fresh from the oven along with Aunt Gin's Vegetable Soup Aunt Gin's Vegetable Soup (Crock Pot). Ingredients:
1 tablespoon dry yeast |
2 cups warm water |
1/4 cup soft butter |
1/8 cup molasses |
1/4 cup honey |
1 teaspoon salt |
3 cups whole wheat flour |
2 cups white flour |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. 2. Combine butter, molasses, honey, and salt. 3. Mix well. 4. Add yeast mixture. 5. Gradually add flour. 6. Turn onto floured surface and knead until smooth. 7. Place in greased bowl and let rise until double. 8. Punch down. 9. Let dough rest a few minutes. 10. Shape into 2 loaves. 11. Place in greased bread pans. 12. Let rise about 1 hour. 13. Bake at 375° for 35-40 minutes. |
