You guessed it - this recipe came for a neighbor when we lived in Sedalia, MO back in the late 70's. She had 2 hungry little boys and was ALWAYS cookin' up something good - and she loved to share, lucky for us! Read more These became my young daughters favorite cookies, and I must have baked a 100 batches in those days. They're not too hard, not too soft, and just cinnamon-y enough...delish! Ingredients:
1 cup butter (i do not recommend substituting margarine) |
11/2 cups sugar |
2 eggs |
23/4 cups flour |
2 teaspoons cream of tartar |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
mix together in a small cereal bowl or plate |
2 tablespoons sugar |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Cream together the butter and sugar; add eggs. 2. Add dry ingredients, mixing until all is blended. 3. Roll cookie dough into balls (11/2 - 2 diameter, depending on how big you want them) and roll each ball in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. 4. Place on baking sheet and press each ball down with your fingertips. 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, until just lightly browned around edges. 6. Remove cookies from pan; cool on waxed paper. |
