Don't be tricked by the simple recipe. Serve this 1950's side dish to any British Baby Boomer Parent you have or know and watch the tears well up. This is a quick and easy traditional British table condiment, guaranteed to stir their memories. Ingredients:
1 english cucumber |
1 cup white vinegar |
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorn |
1 pinch pickling salt |
Directions:
1. Scrub cucmber under cold running water and cut into very thin slices. (a mandolin works well). 2. Rough crack peppercorns. 3. Combine all ingredients in a bowl, making sure cucumber slices are covered with liquid. 4. Cover with plastic wrap and refridgerate for one hour. 5. Serve chilled. |
