A orange flavored pork roast that can be made on the stove top or throw into a crock. I love this sauce and it works for chicken as well. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons canola oil |
2 1/2 lbs pork shoulder |
1 1/2 cups orange juice |
3/4 cup soy sauce |
1/2 cup dark brown sugar |
2 pieces crystallized ginger |
1 teaspoon grated orange peel |
1/4 cup chopped leek |
1/8 cup dry white wine |
1/8 cup triple sec |
1/4 teaspoon oriental five-spice seasoning |
1/4 teaspoon anise seed (crushed) |
1 (10 ounce) can mandarin oranges (garnish) |
Directions:
1. Heat wok or medium saucepan over medium heat for 1 minute. 2. Add oil and when oil is hot add pork roast and brown on all side. 3. In a separate bowl add all sauce ingredients and mix. 4. Add orange sauce to the pork and bring to a boil. 5. Reduce heat to medium low and cover pan and simmer for approximately 1 1/2 hours or until tender. 6. Cool the roast and cut into paper thin slices and arrange on a platter. 7. Garnish with mandarin oranges. |
