OREO MINT DESSERT This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Ravech Estate in Pilot Point, Texas in 1984. Ingredients:
1/2 pound oreo cookies crushed |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/4 cup water |
1 pinch salt |
2 egg whites |
2 cup whipped cream |
1 teaspoon mint or peppermint flavoring |
green food coloring |
Directions:
1. Reserve 1/2 cup crushed cookies for topping. 2. Line a lightly greased casserole dish with the crushed crumbs. 3. Boil sugar, water and salt until clear. 4. Beat egg whites and slowly add syrup beating constantly. 5. Add whipped cream and coloring to syrup and flavoring. 6. Pour into casserole and sprinkle crumbs on top. 7. Freeze several hours then cut into squares to serve. |
