Orangeade, New Zealand Style |

Adapted from Pan American's Complete Around the World Cookbook. Amount of honey may be adjusted to suit your own taste. Times do not include chilling time. Ingredients:
1 large lemon |
5 oranges, divided |
1 cup honey |
1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 cloves |
ice, for serving |
water, for serving |
Directions:
1. Grate the zest of the lemon and one of the oranges. Set zest aside. 2. Squeeze the lemon and all the oranges. 3. Place juice and zest in a saucepan and add honey. 4. Bring to a boil. 5. Add ginger, cinnamon and cloves. 6. Boil about 5 minutes, or until mixture is reduced by half. 7. Strain. 8. Pour into a covered container, cool and refrigerate. 9. To serve, place a tablespoon of the mixture in a tall glass. 10. Fill glass with ice and water. |
