You can add nuts to this if you wish, it's a nice moist cake. Got this recipe from a neighbor I use to live next door to in Texas. Ingredients:
2 sticks butter |
2 cups sugar |
3 1/2 cups flour |
4 eggs |
1 pound orange slices, cut up |
1 package dates and pineapples |
1 package fine coconut |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon soda |
topping |
2/3 cup orange juice |
2 cups powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. 2. Coat candy and dates with some of the flour. Mix all ingredients together. Place in greased tube pan and bake for 3 hours. 3. For topping: 4. Mix together the orange juice and powdered sugar and pour over hot cake. Leave in tube pan to soak up mixture. |
