Grandma Brubaker used to make this all the time in the summer. It was so cold out of the freezer it made my teeth hurt but was great on a hot humid summer day in Kansas. Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
2 1/4 cups water |
1 envelope unflavored gelatin |
1 8 oz can crushed pineapple and juice |
1 cup orange juice |
6 tbsp lemon juice |
2 very ripe bananas smashed very well |
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and 2 cups water and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until dissolved. Soften the gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water, then stir into the hot syrup mixture. Let cool completely. 2. Add fruits and fruit juices to the syrup, then pour into a refrigerator tray and freeze. Let soften slightly before serving. |
