This is a recipe I found in my cookbook called Favorite Brand Name Classic Recipe Collection. It's really easy to make and the oranges offer a really refreshing citrus boost to the iced tea. I didn't include chilling time in the preparation time. Ingredients:
2 oranges |
4 cups boiling water |
5 tea bags |
ice cube |
honey or brown sugar, to sweeten |
Directions:
1. With a vegetable peeler, peel each orange in a continuous spiral, removing only the outer colored layer of peel. 2. In a large pitcher, pour boiling water over the tea bags and orange peel. Cover and steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bags. Chill tea mixture with peel in a covered container. 3. To serve, remove the peel and pour iced tea over ice cubes in tall glasses. 4. Sweeten to taste with honey (or brown sugar). Garnish with orange slices and fresh mint leaves, if desired. |
