Orange Cream Dessert For Womens Day |

As food connects people, we were invited to cook or bake something yellow for this special day. Yellow because on this day in Southern countries there is the tradition to give sprigs of bright yellow Mimosa flowers to women. Read more . The flowers are intended as a sign of respect and also an expression of solidarity with the women in their support for oppressed women worldwide. Ingredients:
for a 26 cm. spring form |
1 packet of lady fingers biscuits (savoyard) |
3 – 4 pieces of spoon sweet (orange, sour orange or bergamot) |
orange or bergamot liqueur for wetting the biscuits as well as milk. |
for the cream |
4 glasses of milk |
3 spoonfuls of corn starch |
1 spoonful of floor |
5 spoonfuls of sugar |
1 teaspoon orange essence |
1 teaspoon margarine |
Directions:
1. For the cream 2. Heat milk keeping a few spoonfuls cold milk to add to mixture. 3. In another sauce pan we add the flour and corn flour mixture, the egg yolks, sugar, orange essence and the cold milk and stir well with an egg beater. 4. When the milk is hot pour to mixture stirring constantly until cream is thick. 5. Add butter and stir. 6. For the syrup 7. 3 spoonfuls orange jam 8. 1/2 cup of fresh orange juice 9. 1 spoonful of orange liqueur 10. In a bowl put some orange liqueur and some milk and wet the biscuits. 11. For the Syrup 12. Put jam, orange juice and orange liqueur in a small sauce pan and boil for five minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool down before using. 13. When cooling serve syrup on top of dessert. Keep the rest in refrigerator to use later on. 14. The spoon sweet is better to be placed on top of the cream last minute as the cream may crack when placed before. 15. Happy Woman’s Day! |
