I have always loved the taste and aroma of Chinese Five Spice. I built this recipe around this unusual spice. I hope you like it. Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter |
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
1/2 cup granulated sugar |
2 eggs |
1 tsp vanilla extract |
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour |
1 tsp baking soda |
1/2 tsp cinnamon |
1/2 tsp chinese five spice (chinese section at most supermarkets) |
1/2 tsp salt |
2 1/4 cups old fashioned oatmeal |
1 cup orange flavored cranberries (ocean spray) |
1 cup chopped pecans |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. 3. Slowly add combined flour, baking soda, spices, and salt that have been mixed well. Stir in oats, cranberries, and pecans. 4. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto non-greased cookie sheet and bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. |
