A great tasting cookie from my Aunt June Thorp. This cookie has been passed down to everyone since the 1930's! Hope you love them! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 cup crisco |
2 eggs |
1 dash salt |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
5 cups flour |
1/2 cup milk |
1 cup orange juice |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
orange frosting |
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar |
1/4 cup orange juice |
Directions:
1. Mix the ingredients in the order given, beating with a wooden spoon after each item. Drop by spoons fulls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a moderate 350 degree oven for 8 - 10 minutes, being careful not to overbake. When cool, frost with orange confectioner sugar frosting. Start with 1 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar with 1/4 cup orange juice, It mixes better in a saucepan over very low heat, stirring constantly till you get it the right consistency. |
