Dark chocolate brownie base with an orange overlay. Not as good as a chocolate orange but will do in a polite pinch. Ingredients:
12 ounces dark chocolate |
1/4 cup unsalted butter |
1 (8 ounce) package low-fat cream cheese |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
2 egg whites |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup flour |
1/2 cup whole wheat flour |
3/4 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
4 ounces low-fat cream cheese |
1/2 cup orange juice |
1/3 cup sugar |
2 egg whites |
1 egg |
5 ounces dark chocolate |
3/4 cup fat-free half-and-half |
Directions:
1. Base: In a double boiler melt the 12 ounces of dark chocolate with the butter. Set aside, don't leave on after melting occurs. In a separate bowl mix 1 package of cream cheese, 1 1/2 sugar, 1/4 brown sugar, 2 egg whites, 2 eggs until all incorporated. Add vanilla. Mix flours, baking powder, and salt together and sift into the wet mixture. Take chocolate butter and pour in slowly until smooth. Spray a 9x12 pan and input base brownie mix. 2. Orange Layer: Mix 4 ounces of cream cheese with orange juice and sugar. Add the 2 egg white and one egg. Spread over base layer in pan. 3. Chocolate Topper: Melt the 5 ounces of dark chocolate in a double boiler with the half and half. Once chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth lightly drizzle over orange layer. 4. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Until done. |
