Ingredients:
1/3 cup butter |
9 oz cream cheese |
1 each egg, yolk |
1 tablespoon orange, juice |
18 oz orange cake mix |
1 teaspoon orange, zest, grated |
1 cup raisins |
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped |
2 tablespoon basil, dried |
Directions:
1. Mix together the butter, cream cheese, egg yolk and orange juice. Add dry cake mix; stir in orange zest, raisins, walnuts and basil. Chill dough. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees; butter cookie sheets. Roll chilled dough into 1/2-inch balls and place on cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes. 3. For a bit of artistry, attach a small paper or silk leaf using a dab of confectioner's sugar icing. 4. Makes 6 to 7 dozen. 5. Variation: Lemon cake mix and 1 tablespoon frozen orange juice concentrate can be substituted for the orange cake mix and orange juice. |
