When the holiday suppers are being planned I like to use my slow cooker to ease the pressure of getting everything together at once, this dish is easily doubled and it is sweet enough to please your guests. Let them guess what the root vegetable is! Read more ! Ingredients:
2 large peeled and sliced yellow turnips |
1 cup of boiling salted water |
1 cup of brown sugar |
1/2 cup of orange rind |
1 tablespoon of grated orange rind |
1 cinnamon stick |
pinch of salt |
2 tablespoons of butter |
Directions:
1. Place all in the slow cooker pot, stir well. 2. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. 3. Easily doubled. I like grating a little nutmeg in at the last minute along with a little more butter. |
