Oniony Braised Round Steak |

One of my DH's favorites Ingredients:
3 slices bacon, chopped |
2 lbs beef round steak, 1/2-inch thick |
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed french onion soup |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
Directions:
1. In 10 skillet over medium-high heat cook bacon until light brown; push to side of skillet. 2. Meanwhile, with a sharp knife, cut round steak into 6 serving pieces. 3. In hot bacon drippings cook steaks until well browned on both sides. 4. Stir in undiluted soup and pepper; heat to boiling. 5. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour or until steaks are fork-tender, stirring occasionally. 6. Remove steaks to warm platter; keep warm. 7. In cup, blend flour and 1/4 cup water until smooth. 8. Gradually add to hot liquid in skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened. 9. Serve gravy over steaks. |
