The contributor is Megan Crow. I changed it up a bit by using onion instead of red pepper b/c my family doesn't care for red peppers. I don't think they need any additional condiments but that's up to you. You could also use ground chicken in place of the turkey if you wanted to. Ingredients:
1/2 cup diced onion |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
2 tablespoons onion soup mix |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1 lb lean ground turkey |
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded |
4 buns |
Directions:
1. Heat olive oil in a small frying pan. 2. Add diced onions and saute over low-med heat until translucent. 3. Set aside. 4. In a bowl, combine soup mix, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. 5. Crumble turkey into bowl and mix well. 6. Shape turkey mixture into 8 thin patties of the same diameter. 7. Spoon sauteed onions and cheese into the center of 4 of the patties. 8. Top with the remaining 4 patties. 9. Press firmly to seal edges or you will have a mess. 10. Grill burgers over low-med heat till the juices run clear approx 5-7 minutes per side, but it depends on your preference. 11. Serve on buns. |
