This is my mom's recipe. I have made it a number of times, then misplaced the recipe. This is the basic recipe she gave to me recently. I have used water instead of beef broth. From Better Homes and Gardens book. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs peeled onions, thinly sliced (4 or 5 large) |
1/4 cup butter |
4 (10 ounce) cans condensed beef broth |
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Cook sliced onions in the butter first. 2. Then add broth, worcestershire sauce and salt. 3. Cook for several hours. 4. To serve you can put a slice of bread on your bowl of soup and put some shredded mozarella cheese on top. Microwave to melt cheese. |
