This sounds like a good change for a bread. It says that it is good with beef when you don't have a gravy - bet it's good with gravy, too! Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
4 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
4 tbs shortening |
1/2 - 2/3 cup milk |
2 tbs butter |
2 1/2 cups sliced onions |
1 egg |
1/2 cup cream |
t tsp salt |
Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt. Cut in shortening. Add cream and knead dough slightly. Flatten in a greased casserole. 2. Melt butter in a skillet; add onions and brown. Cool and spread over dough. 3. Beat egg, milk and salt and pour over onions. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. |
