I could have these appetizers as a meal, if you want you can also add a finely chopped green chili to the batter. Gram flour is also known as besan and chickpea flour. Ingredients:
5 tablespoons gram flour |
1/2 teaspoon turmeric |
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
1/2 teaspoon garam masala |
1/4 teaspoon chili pepper |
1 tablespoon very finely chopped fresh coriander |
salt |
1 large onion, thinly sliced and chopped |
oil, for deep-frying |
Directions:
1. Mix the flour with the spices, add some water until the mixture is gluey. 2. Mix the onion into this paste, it should hold together, if necessary add more flour. 3. Heat the oil to medium heat and drop golf ball size blobs into the fat. 4. Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown, drain on kitchen paper, serve warm with a yogurt- mint raita. |
