These are some easy buns that you can make to serve BBQ, superburgers, or anything else worthy of a great bun! Ingredients:
2 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast |
1/2 cup warm water (105 degrees – 115 degrees f) |
2 tablespoons butter |
3/4 cup chopped onions, sauteed |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/4 cup butter, melted |
1/2 cup scalded milk, cooled to warm (105 degrees – 115 degrees f) |
1 egg |
3 1/4 – 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in water, let stand for about 5 minutes, until foamy. 2. Saute onions in the 2 tablespoons of butter. 3. Combine sugar, salt, melted butter and cooled milk. 4. Add in egg, onions, and yeast. Gradually add in flour, to form a stiff dough. 5. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes. Shape into desired shape and size. Makes 12 – 16 buns. 6. Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise in a warm, draft free place until doubled in size, about 45 to 60 minutes. 7. Bake in a preheated oven at 400 F for 12 to 15 minutes. 8. Note: Great with William’s recipe for Pulled BBQ pork. |
