One Bowl Brownie Cake 1974 |

Had this really nice recipe since the 1970's - frost with your favorite fudge or chocolate frosting Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups flour |
1 1/3 cups sugar |
1 1/4 tsp baking powder |
1/4 tsp baking soda |
1/4 tsp salt |
1 cup milk |
3 tbs shortening ( soft white vegetable shortening ) but softened butter or margarine may be used too |
1 egg |
1/2 tsp vanilla |
3 oz melted unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled |
2/3 cup chopped nuts like walnuts |
fudge frosting as desired |
Directions:
1. Beat all ingrdients except nuts for 3 minutes with mixer medium speed till well combined.
2. Place batter into a greased 8 or 9 inch square pan.
3. Bake in a 350F oven about 40 minutes or tested done
4. Do not overbake
5. Cool completely and cut.
6. Chill well for a fudgier consistency
