This is my family's traditional sweet potato casserole. It gets the wonderful, homey flavor from apple jelly and butter. Ingredients:
1/2 cup apple jelly |
1/4 cup butter |
1 tsp. salt |
3 sweet potatoes, cooked, peeled, and sliced |
3 tart apples, peeled and sliced |
Directions:
1. Combine jelly, butter, and salt in a small saucepan. 2. Heat till melted and well blended. 3. Arrange two alternating layers each of potatoes and apples in an 8 square pan. 4. Spoon some of the jelly mixture over each layer. 5. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. 6. Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer. Serve hot. |
