We stand in line at K-Christian School's Fall crafts fair for these! A Dutch favorite, but no one seemed to have a recipe!! I found this in the Betty Crocker International Cook book. Ingredients:
3/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 cup vegetable oil |
2 eggs |
3 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp ground mace |
2 1/2 cup all purpose flour |
1/2 cup currants or raisins |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Heat 2 to 3 inches oil to 375. Beat milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup oil, 2. the eggs, baking powder, salt, mace and 1 cup of the flour in large 3. mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on 4. medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 2 minutes. Stir in remaining 5. flour and the currants. 6. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Turn puffs as they rise to 7. the surface. Fry until golden brown, 2 to 2 1/2 minutes on each side. 8. Drain on paper towels. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon. Roll puffs 9. in sugar mixture. |
