You don't use milk in this one,or cheese. Ingredients:
potatoes-4 cups slice to about 1/8 in. thick |
butter-4 heaping tablespoons |
flour-3 heaping tablespoons |
water-1 cup |
saffron (note: some of the tulips are in bloom here,i use the yellow pollen from them--for saffron,is pollen, and sometime hard to find in the store, and when i do it is to high of a price .) |
salt and pepper 1/8 teaspoon |
onion-1-finely chopped |
green pepper-1-finely chopped |
mushroom stems and pieces-1 (8 oz)can |
Directions:
1. Cut your potatoes the dry thoroughtly between kitchen towels 2. Place your butter in pan and melt, add flour and mix and cook for a short while, 3. Remove from heat and add the cold water(water must be cold) 4. Stir until thoroughly mixed 5. Add saffron, and salt and pepper 6. In Butter baking dish put down a layer of potatoes, chopped onion, green pepper, mushroom pieces and a little of the sauce 7. Repeat until the dish is full 8. Bake at 350 degrees for about 2 hours,Do not turn the potatoes while baking. 9. Sometime milk tends to become a little lumpy and has a poor appearence, the butter will lend enough dairy richness to the dish. 10. I beleive if you try them this way you will like them. 11. Enjoy |
