Here is a very good old-fashioned apple pie!! The taste is sooo good. Ingredients:
pastry dough, for two double crust, nine-inch pies |
5 cups tart cooking apples, sliced (4-5 large apples) |
2/3 cup sugar |
4 -5 tablespoons enriched flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind |
1/4 cup molasses |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
Directions:
1. Line 2, 9-inch pie pans with pastry. Sprinkle apples with a mixture of sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg and lemon rind. Spread in pie shell. Pour molasses and lemon juice over apples; dot with butter. Cover with remaining pastry. Trim, seal and flute edge. Bake 10 minutes at 450F then at 350F for 30-40 minutes. |
