this makes about 1/2 lb.. Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar |
1 tablespoon white vinegar |
1 cup corn syrup |
1 tablespoon baking soda |
Directions:
1. line the bottom and sides of a 9x9 square pan - with aluminum foil - butter foil and set aside. 2. combine sugar, vinegar and corn syrup in a heavy pan - 3. stir once over medium heat till sugar dissolves - 4. heat until mixture reaches the hard crack stage or 290*-310* on candy thermometer. 5. remove from heat, carefully stir in baking soda.mixture will foam quite high - 6. pour mixture into prepared pans, set aside at room temperature until firm - 7. invert pan to remove candy. 8. peel foil off and break candy into small pieces - 9. store in an airtight container at room temperature - . |
