A wonderful pound cake made by my grandmother all the time while we were little. Wonderful for dessert or breakfast. Bad for you, but so good. Ingredients:
2 cups softened butter |
2 cups sugar |
8 eggs |
3 1/4 cups all purpose flour |
3 1/4 tsp salt |
2 tsp vanilla extract |
1 tsp almond extract |
Directions:
1. Cream the butter, gradually adding the sugar, beating until the mixture in light and fluffy. 2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. 3. Combine the flour and salt, stir well, add to the creamed mixture. 4. Stir in the extracts. 5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10 inch bunt pan or loaf pan. 6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 7. Cool in the pan 10 minutes, remove from the pan and continue to cool on a wire rack. |
