Old gingerbread recipe. Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup molasses |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 large egg |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 1/2 cups flour |
2/3 cup boiling water (add last) |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients together, adding the water last. 2. Put into a 12-inch greased baking pan (or two 8-inch cake pans). 3. Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes or until it tests done to touch or with a toothpick. |
