Old-Fashioned Gingerbread |

Nice moist Gingerbread. I love it with lemon sauce. Ingredients:
1/2 cup white sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
1 large egg |
1 cup molasses |
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup hot water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). 2. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan. 3. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. 4. Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses. 5. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. 6. Blend into the creamed mixture. 7. Stir in the hot water. 8. Pour into the prepared pan. 9. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. 10. Allow to cool before serving. |
