Old-Fashioned Chocolate Pudding Cake |

I was searching for the old fashioned kind of pudding cake and found this on . This is like the one I made when in high school! Back in the '50s! Finally found it and will keep it here for safekeeping. Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour |
3/4 cup sugar |
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder |
1/2 cup milk |
2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1 3/4 cups hot water |
1/4 cup seedless raspberry jam |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. 2. In medium bowl stir together flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, milk, vegetable oil, baking powder, salt and vanilla. 3. Spread into greased 8 inch square baking pan. 4. In medium bowl stir together remaining 4 tablespoons cocoa, brown sugar and hot water; pour over mixture in pan. 5. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until pudding bubbles around edges. 6. Remove from oven; let stand 20 minutes. 7. OPTIONAL SERVING METHOD:. 8. Meanwhile, in small bowl stir jam until smooth. 9. Drizzle each serving of warm pudding with jam. |
