This is a 1950's recipe that is so easy and delicious to be served with any meal. Ingredients:
14 cup and 2 tablespoons butter |
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons all purpose flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
3/4 teaspoon pepper |
3 3/4 cups milk |
2 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese |
9 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add flour salt and pepper; cook and stir until a thick paste forms. Gradually add milk. Cook and stir until the mixture begins to thicken. Add cheese; cook and stir until melted. Place potatoes in a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish Pour sauce over potatoes. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. |
