I love this recipe. I created it by altering my mothers recipe for baked beans, and I am very happy with the results. Enjoy!!! Ingredients:
1 lb white pea beans |
1 medium onion (sliced) |
1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/4 cup maple syrup |
1/2 cup molasses |
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar |
1 tablespoon prepared mustard |
1/2 tablespoon salt |
1 dash pepper |
4 -5 slices bacon |
Directions:
1. Soak the beans overnight in cold water. 2. Pick and rinse beans. 3. In a large covered pot bring beans to a boil and then simmer for a half an hour-drain. 4. In a slow cooker combine the remaining ingredients add beans and water to cover. 5. Cook on high for 5 hours-add water as needed to keep the beans covered. |
