20 small fresh okra pods |
1 cup buttermilk |
3/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1/4 cup cornmeal |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 dash black pepper |
vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Wash okra, trim steams, drain well. 2. Pour buttermilk over okra, set aside. 3. Combine next 5 ingredients mixing well. Remove each okra pod from buttermilk and carefully roll in cornmeal mixture. 4. Drop into deep hot oil; fry 3 to 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels. |
