The sauce.. it had me! :) Ingredients:
for pancake |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1/3 cup water |
2 eggs |
2 cups cabbage, shred into strips |
2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced, diagonally |
6 to 8 strips of bacon |
for okonomi sauce |
1/2 cup worcestershire sauce |
1/2 cup ketchup |
1/6 cup honey |
1/6 cup oyster sauce |
bonito flakes and sesame seeds for garnish (optional) |
Directions:
1. 1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and water until smooth. Add eggs, cabbage, and green onions; mix until smooth. 2. 2. Cook bacon strips in a separate bowl until desired crispiness is reached. 3. 3. Oil a preheated nonstick or griddle pan. Pour half of the mixture into the pan. Using a spatula, flatten pancake until about 3/4-inch-thick. Place bacon on top of the pancake. When bottom is set (about 3 minutes), flip over the pancake and cook for 4 minutes. Flip again (bacon side up) and cook for 3 minutes or until firm and browned. 4. 4. Transfer cooked pancakes to a plate and slice into squares. 5. 5. Make okonomi sauce: Combine Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, honey, and oyster sauce. 6. 6. OPTIONAL: Garnish with bonito flakes and sesame seeds. |
