My moms favorite Veggie, she always said it was healthy! Turns out, my favorite also! Crispy and Delish! Ingredients:
okies crispy fried okra |
1 tes ea. johnny's seasoning, pepper, garlic |
1/2 cup corn starch |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup corn meal |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 pound okra pods, trimmed, and cut into rounds |
1 cup cooking oil or deep frier with oil |
Directions:
1. Mix the flours, baking powder together. Stir to mix well, then drop the okra pods in and stir again. 2. Heat oil in a wok or frying pan over medium heat or Deep fryer. Test by adding a drop of batter; when it puffs up immediately, the oil is ready. Remove pods from the batter one at a time and add to the wok, taking care not to crowd. Fry until lightly brown. Drain and keep warm until all the pods are cooked. |
