Ohio's most abundant fall crop is Apples, with orchards stretching across the northern and central part of the state. Ohio's apple culture owes it's beginnings to Johnny Appleseed, ne John Chapman, an eccentric and colorful itinerant farmer who introduced apple trees to Ohio. Ingredients:
3 eggs |
1 3/4 cups sugar |
1 cup oil |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts |
4 -6 tart apples, sliced thick |
Directions:
1. Mix the eggs, sugar, and oil together. Sift the flour, baking sodea, cinnamon, and salt into the egg mixture. 2. Mix well and add the walnuts and apples. Bake in an ungreased cake pan for 45 minutes to 1 hour in a 350 degree oven. |
