These yummy biscuits take a while to make, but will wow your family, friends, even your expert-chef cousin Edna. Yummy, and perfect for a dinner with the girls! Ingredients:
3 cups flour |
1 tsp. salt |
4 tsp. baking powder |
1 orange |
4 tbsp. shortening |
3 tbsp. sugar |
1 cup milk |
2 tbsp. melted butter or butter substitute |
Directions:
1. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder, salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar. 2. Cut in shortening. 3. Add milk to form soft dough. 4. Turn onto lightly floured board. 5. Knead lightly. 6. Pat into a sheet 1/2 of an inch thick. 7. Spread with butter or substitute, and 2 tbsp. sugar dissolved in orange juice. 8. Sprinkle with grated orange rind. 9. Roll like a jelly roll and cut into slices 1/2 inch thick. 10. Place cut side down in well-oiled pan. 11. Cover and allow to stand for 10 minutes. 12. Bake in hot oven (450 degrees) for 15 minutes. 13. ENJOY! |
