My Grandmother made this, then my Mom, then me, now my son makes this...everyone loves this pie! Ingredients:
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts |
4 cups peeled, cored, diced apples (granny smith or whatever pie apple you like) |
2/3 cup granulated sugar |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 cup rolled oats |
1/4 cup flour |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 cup butter |
Directions:
1. Combine apples with sugar, flour and cinnamon. 2. Spoon filling into pastry lined 9 pie plate. 3. Combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon. 4. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. 5. Spoon topping over apple filling. 6. (Pie can be frozen at this point, add 20 minutes to baking time, bake frozen) Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 35 minutes. |
