Often in the morning, I don't have time to cook oatmeal. While in France, I took a liking to museli, a generic term in Europe. Many variations exist, but I played around and came up with my own. Super healthy, and for those who can stomach the thought of eating oatmeal uncooked, this is a great start to the day Ingredients:
1 large container quaker original (not quick) rolled oats |
1 1/2 cup bakers grated coconut |
1 cup sliced almonds |
1 cup chopped hazelnuts |
1 cup dried cranberries (craisins) |
1 cup raisins |
(other dried fruits can be added or substituted to suit your own liking, such as) |
sultanas |
zante currants |
dehydrated banana chips |
chopped dates |
chopped prunes, if you really want to get things going |
1/2 cup confectioners sugar |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. You can return the mix to the oat container, although it will have more than doubled in volume. 2. I'll sometimes put portions in individual ziploc sandwich bags 3. Serve, uncooked with milk or soymilk. 4. add a spoonful of honey, if desired. I sure do |
