Oatmeal Cake With Frosting

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup milk
1 cup oats
1/4 cup soft butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
3 tablespoons half-and-half
1/2 cup nuts
3/4 cup shredded coconut
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
2. Beat butter until creamy; add sugars and beat until blened. Add vanilla and egg; beat well.
3. Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk; then stir in oats. Pour batter into greased and floured pan (8-inch square glass baking dish). Bake for 40-50 minutes and leave in pan.
4. FROSTING: Combine in a saucepan and boil until frosting bubbles. Spread on cake.
