Ingredients:
1 cup quick oats |
3 tablespoons shortening |
1 tablespoon salt |
3 tablespoons molasses |
1/2 cup sugar |
2 cups boiling water |
1 package yeast |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/2 cup water, lukewarm |
6 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Pour the boiling water over the quick oats, shortening, salt, molasses and 1/2 cup sugar. 2. Let stand until lukewarm. 3. Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to oat mixture. Add flour and knead until firm. 4. Let stand until double in size. Form into 2 loaves and let rise again until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
