This recipe isn't really Hawaiian, but, I liked the idea for a name, and I did serve it with a Hawaiianish dish, Maui Sunset Salmon. :) Ingredients:
1lb dry orzo |
1t butter |
3 green onions, sliced |
1 cup fresh pineapple, diced |
1 cup fresh or frozen green peas, raw |
about 1/4 cup pineapple juice |
1/2 cup heavy cream |
1/2 cup shredded pepperjack cheese |
several dashes of hot sauce |
kosher or sea salt fresh ground pepper |
Directions:
1. Prepare orzo per package directions. 2. Drain(reserve about 1 cup of the liquid) and rinse with cold water. 3. Add back to pan and add remaining ingredients, except cheese. 4. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes. 5. Add cheese then put the lid on and turn off the heat. 6. Let rest while preparing rest of meal(5-7 minutes or so). 7. Stir well prior to serving. |
