You could also dry these in a low-temp oven. The cooking time listed is the drying time and the prep time includes the refrigeration time. Ingredients:
1 cup sunflower seeds, roasted and salted |
1/2 cup butter, softened |
1 cup whole wheat flour |
1/2 cup bran cereal |
2 tablespoons honey |
2 tablespoons warm water |
Directions:
1. In a blender, grind the sunflower seeds until smooth. 2. Place the sunflower puree and the butter in a medium bowl and cream together until smooth. 3. Add the flour, bran, honey and water and stir until well blended. 4. Form the dough into a ball, place it on a large sheet of waxed paper and shape it into a log. 5. Wrap waxed paper tightly around the dough and chill for 4-6 hours or overnight. 6. With a serrated knife, slice the dough into 1/4 rounds. 7. Place the rounds on solid fruit roll sheets positioned on dehydrator trays. 8. Dry at 145F for 4-6 hours or until firm and crisp. 9. Store in an air-tight container. |
