I am not sure where I got this recipe, but it's been in my collection for a long time. You can vary this recipe by changing the nuts you use. I have used peanuts, pecans, or walnuts in the past. Sometimes, I sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips along with nuts for something different. An easy-to-make square. Ingredients:
1/3 cup butter |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 1/3 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 nuts, finely chopped |
2 eggs |
3/4 cup corn syrup |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 tablespoons flour |
3/4 cup nuts, medium-chopped |
Directions:
1. Crust:. 2. Preheat oven to 350*. 3. Cream butter and sugar, then add rest of the ingredients, mixing well. 4. Pat firmly into a 9 x 13 pan. Bake 350* for 7 minutes. 5. Topping:. 6. Beat eggs until foamy. Add corn syrup, sugar, salt, vanilla and flour, mixing well. Pour over base. 7. Sprinkle nuts on top. 8. Bake 350* for 15 minutes. 9. Cool & cut into squares. |
