I took these to a family reunion one year and they were a big hit. Ingredients:
1/4 lb butter (room temperature) |
1/4 lb sugar |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 lb brown sugar |
1 cup chopped walnuts |
2 tablespoons flour |
2 eggs |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup powdered sugar |
1 1/2 tablespoons milk |
1 tablespoon melted butter |
Directions:
1. Cream butter with sugar. 2. Gradually add flour; blend well after each addition. 3. Spread in 13 x 9=inch greased pan. 4. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes. 5. Combine sugar, walnuts, flour, eggs, salt, baking powder and vanilla; blend well. 6. Pour over crust. 7. Continue baking until set, about 15 minutes. 8. Let cool completely in pan. 9. TOPPING: Combine ingredients. 10. Blend until smooth and spread evenly over pastry. 11. Cut into 1-inch squares. |
