My mom's swiss steak was Bland and boring. This is not the case with this flavorful slow cooked swiss steak. We love it in this house. Ingredients:
1 and half lbs round steak |
2 tbls flour |
1/4 ts thyme |
1/8 ts garlic powder |
salt and pepper to taste |
1/2 medium onion chopped |
1 green pepper diced |
1 stalk celery |
1 carrot chopped (optional) |
1 clove garlic chopped or 1 ts minced garlic (more if you love garlic) |
1 (14.5oz can) stewed tomatoes |
1/4 cup red wine (or 1/4 can beef broth) |
1 or more tbls worchestershire sauce |
Directions:
1. Cut ground steak into serving sized pieces 2. Mix flour, thyme, garlic powder, salt and pepper together 3. Dredge the meat pieces through the flour mixture and place in slow cooker. 4. Chop the onion, green pepper, celery and carrot if using. 5. Place the onion, green pepper, celery and carrot if using on top of the meat. 6. Sprinkle minced garlic over the vegetables. 7. Cover this all with the can of stewed tomatoes. 8. Pour the worchestershire sauce and wine or beef broth over all. 9. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 3 to 5 hours. 10. Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta or whatever your heart desires. 11. Enjoy |
