This is a delicious sauerkraut recipe given to me by a lovely Norwegian frien.When i feel like starting from scratch with sauerkraut,this is the recipe I use courtesy of Inger Olsen. Ingredients:
1 head cabbage |
1 tb salt |
10 tb apple cider vinegar |
1/2 c water |
2 tb butter |
1 tb caraway seeds |
10 tb sugar |
Directions:
1. Cut cabbage fine. Add butter,salt and caraway seed. Pour water over the cabbage and cook over med heat for about 2 hours 2. When ready,add vinegar and sugar to your own taste. During cooking add more water if mixture seems dry. |
