Ingredients:
1 lb chip steak |
2 carrots, thinly sliced |
1/4 teaspoon allspice |
2 bay leaves |
1 onion, sliced very thin |
flour, salt and pepper for dusting |
Directions:
1. Place thin slice of onion and 2 to 3 slices of carrots on each slice of meat. 2. Dust with salt, pepper and flour mixture. 3. Roll and fasten with toothpicks or thread. 4. Brown on all sides in melted butter. When all pieces are brown, cover with water. 5. Add a few bay leaves and 1/4 teaspoon allspice. 6. Simmer 15 minutes. 7. Make a paste of flour and water; pour over meat and simmer about 45 minutes more for flavorful gravy. 8. Watch carefully after 30 minutes to be sure gravy doesn't cook away. |
